“The deciding factor was getting emergency notifications, a PA system, bells, panic buttons in classrooms and mobile device applications all from one company. I am a one-man technology department and it was nice to move everything to one system. I was not trying to make announcements on phones, push a button on another mobile phone app, and find the correct video surveillance camera..”

THE CHALLENGE

The complexity of a K-12 campus in one building

Highland ISD, a small rural district housing its entire K-12 population in one building, faced significant challenges with a confusing array of disconnected communication systems. This fragmented approach, requiring staff to juggle multiple screens and logins for simple tasks, created daily inefficiencies and critical gaps in emergency response.

Complicated drills

Even simple procedures like a fire drill became complex, with different requirements for elementary, middle, and high school.

Confusing communications

Multiple bells, overlapping announcements, and un-targeted messages for different grade levels created daily confusion.

The need for personalization

The goal was a personalized solution for each school segment without the cost and complexity of multiple systems.

THE SOLUTION

Intelligent simplicity for the campus

Quicklert’s One Platform provided the intelligence to manage a multi-grade campus with the simplicity of a single, unified system.

Personalized, grade-based bells

Elementary, middle, and high school sections now have different bells, eliminating confusion within the same building.

Integrated safety and surveillance

The advanced video surveillance and monitoring solution with AI analytics running on built in cameras of the tablets and IP speakers.

Zoned and targeted announcements

Announcements in hallways and classrooms are now zoned, visual, and targeted, ensuring the right message reaches the right audience.

Funded by security grants

Extended live video alerts and camera AI functions to local police dispatch and squad cars, creating a community-wide safety net.

THE DEPLOYMENT

How it works

The district achieved a full deployment of the Quicklert All-in-One Platform and AI-powered devices across all four campuses over a nine-month period, integrating comprehensive communication and safety solutions at their own pace.

Personalized bells & communication zones

The biggest challenge of a K-12 building is communicating with different age groups. The Quicklert One Platform solved this by creating distinct zones. The IT Director now acts as a “musical DJ,” scheduling different songs and bell themes for the elementary, middle, and high school sections, eliminating confusion and making the day more engaging.

Targeted video announcements

Instead of disruptive campus-wide audio, announcements are now targeted to specific zones. Live or pre-recorded video messages can be sent only to the high school hallways via the IP speakers with displays, or directly into elementary classrooms on their ConnecTabs, ensuring messages are always relevant.

Discreet, multi-function security

A dual-facing AI camera is hidden inside each Omni-directional hallway IP speaker, providing robust security coverage without the intimidating look of traditional cameras. These multi-function devices also include speakers, sensors, and dual-screen displays, all running off a single network cable, which dramatically reduced installation cost and complexity.

Simplified classroom technology

In every classroom, the ConnecTab unified all in-room technology. It functions as the PA speaker, clock, bell receiver, and video intercom, giving teachers a single, reliable device for everything from daily timers to one-touch emergency help calls.

Single-pane-of-glass management

The entire system is managed through the Quicklert Management Platform. This relieved the immense burden on the lone IT staff member, who can now manage every bell schedule, announcement zone, and security device from one easy-to-use interface.
